How Do I Use the Goals Tab?

The Goals tab allows you to measure the client's steps toward reaching an attainable goal.

Creating a New Goal

  1. Access the Client's Goal tab.
  2. Click on the New Goal button.
  3. Complete the fields that appear.

    1. Goal Type: The predefined goal that the client will be working towards.
    2. Goal Status: The client's current progress for this goal.  These include:
      1. Achieved: The client has successfully completed this goal
      2. Active: The client is currently working on this goal
      3. Discontinued: This goal is no longer being tracked
      4. Partially Achieved: The client completed some but not all of the goal
      5. Withdrawn: The client has stopped pursuing this goal
    3. Details: An outline of the client's specific details relating to the goal
    4. Goal Set Date: The date that you and the client established the goal
    5. Goal Target Completion Date: The date that the client aims to successfully complete the goal
    6. Final Date: The date the client completes the goal.  This will be generated automatically when the goal is Achieved.


Why can't I change my Goal Status?

When you are creating a new goal, the goal will be Active by default.  All other options will be greyed out.  Once the goal is saved, you will be able to change the status when editing the goa

           

      4. Once the fields are completed, click any of Save & Previous (to go to the previous tab), Save Changes (to stay on the Goals tab), or Save & Next (to proceed to the next tab).  Your new goal will now be saved.

Editing or Completing a Goal

  1. Access the Client's Goal tab.
  2. Find the goal you want to edit and click on it to expand the details.

    Goal Numbering

    Goals are numbered IN THE ORDER THEY ARE CREATED.  They are not ordered by Goal Set Date.   For example, if you set a goal for April 15, then backdate a new goal for April 12, the goal for April 15 would be Goal 1 and the goal for April 12 would be Goal 2.

  3. Make the necessary changes in the fields that appear.  Note that changing the status to anything but Active will set the Final Date to the current date and will disable the goal's Actions.  Once the changes are complete, click any of Save & Previous (to go to the previous tab), Save Changes (to stay on the Goals tab), or Save & Next (to proceed to the next tab).  Your changes are now saved.

Adding and Updating Actions

Actions are the steps that lead up to completing the goal.  You can add new Actions or update existing actions for any Goal with an Active status.  Goals that are not Active cannot add Actions.

To add or update an action, follow steps 1 and 2 of editing a Goal (see above).

  1. In the goal you want to add an action to, click on the Add Action button.


  2. Complete the fields that appear.


    1. Details: Specific instructions for this action
    2. Action Set Date: the date the client started this action
    3. Action Target Completion Date: The date this action should be completed by
    4. Notes: Additional details about this action
    5. Completed: Check this off when the client completes the action.
  3. If you need to add more actions, repeat steps 1 and 2.  Once you are ready, click any of Save & Previous (to go to the previous tab), Save Changes (to stay on the Goals tab), or Save & Next (to proceed to the next tab).  Your changes are now saved.


Deleting

When deleting an action item, make sure to save the page BEFORE adding new action items.
